Policies
John Lewis have a good range of policies including lifetime policies with high levels of cover.
Benefits and Small Print
John Lewis’s policies include cover for euthanasia, prescription food and dental treatment (accidental injury only).
The death or loss benefit payable is based on the purchase price of your pet (rather than market value and/or use of a sliding scale).
In our opinion the small print is “clean” by which we mean we found very few other non-standard exclusions.
Renewal Premiums
Our research found many reviews complaining about high renewal premium increases. Unfortunately this seems to be common for many of the policies underwritten by RSA.
Customer Service
On the other hand most people seem very happy with customer service and claims handling More about John Lewis’ customer reviews.
Excess and Contribution
The fixed excess is low at £60 per condition per year. (The average across all pet insurance providers is about £75-£80). You can though opt to increase the excess to a maximum of £500 in return for a lower premium. You do not though have to pay a percentage of the vet fees until your pet is 9 years old.
