Policies
M&S have a good range of policies including a lifetime policies which provides £7,000 cover per year. However the standard policy may confuse some people as it has a £4,000 annual limit but is restricted to £1,000 per condition per year.
Benefits and Small Print
M&S policies include cover for euthanasia and dental treatment (for both illnesses and accidents). The Premier policy also includes cover for prescription food.
The death or loss benefit payable is based on the purchase price of your pet (rather than market value and/or use of a sliding scale).
In our opinion the small print is “clean” by which we mean we found very few other non-standard exclusions.
Renewal Premiums
Our research found many reviews complaining about high renewal premium increases. Unfortunately this seems to be common for many of the policies underwritten by RSA.
Customer Service
On the other hand most people seem very happy with customer service and claims handling More about M&S’ customer reviews.
Excess and Contribution
The fixed excess is low at just £50 per condition per year. (The average across all pet insurance providers is about £75-£80). You do not though have to pay a percentage of the vet fees for pets of any age.
