Alternative medicine is usually defined in the “Definitions” section of a pet insurance policy.
In most cases it is defined as meaning “Homeopathy” and “Herbal medicine“.
Most policies specify that they will only pay for homeopathy and herbal medicine if prescribed or carried out by your vet.
Alternative medicine is also sometimes included in the definition of complementary treatments, and in these cases will be covered within the complementary therapy limit (where there is separate limit).
